Aspen an impressive venue for World Cup
December 4, 2012
The Nature Valley Aspen Winternational is one of the events that the U.S. Ski Team looks forward to all year. It’s the only domestic event of the season, bringing the excitement of ski racing to our own backyard and live on national television. It’s the first event of the season when we get to hear fans cheering their hearts out for their favorite American athletes. Parents get to see their children race at the same ski resort they took them to as children.
This year was no exception. Aspen put on an outstanding event – truly world class in all aspects. From the organizing committee to volunteers to the ever-supportive community, everything was at its absolute best. It provided the perfect course for Mikaela Shiffrin to continue her rise to the top of the international alpine scene. Aspen also gave us the opportunity to showcase our dynamic athletes from the World Cup debuts of Paula Moltzan and Abby Ghent.
On behalf of our U.S. Ski Team athletes, I’d like to extend my sincere thanks to the community of Aspen and Aspen Skiing Co. for executing such a fantastic event. Without your support, we would not be able to bring the excitement of international ski racing to the United States.
Thank you, Aspen, for making this such a memorable event.
