‘Art of Fielding’ author to speak in Aspen

ASPEN – The Aspen Writers’ Foundation has tapped best-selling author Chad Harbach to discuss his debut novel, “The Art of Fielding.”

Harbach is scheduled to speak at 6 p.m. Aug. 13 at the Doerr-Hosier Center at the Aspen Meadows Resort.

“The Art of Fielding” was selected as the 2011 No. 1 editors’ pick by Amazon and one of the Top 10 best books of the year by The New York Times in addition to recognition from The Oprah Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, Chicago Tribune and more.

Harbach will discuss his emergence onto the literary scene, his life in the publishing industry and the success of his novel. The discussion will be followed by an audience Q-and-A, a book signing and an evening reception.




Harbach co-founded n + 1 literary magazine, a journal that focuses on social criticism, political commentary, essays, art, poetry, book reviews and short fiction. Harbach contributes to the magazine as both a writer and an editor. He is a graduate of Harvard University, earned a master’s in fine arts from the University of Virginia and currently lives in southern Wisconsin.
