Art Aspen returns Aug. 4-7
Thirty of the country’s preeminent art galleries, exhibiting the very best in modern and contemporary artwork, will converge at Art Aspen August 4-7. Situated in an elegant and unique boutique style setting with the Ajax Mountain as the backdrop, Art Aspen will provide an intimate environment for collectors, art enthusiasts and patrons to collect important works of art by emerging and established artists.
Art Aspen will kick off with an opening night preview on Aug. 4, offering attendees the first chance to explore and acquire artwork from exhibiting galleries.
Art Aspen will be open to the public Aug. 5-7. Tickets are $20 per day in advance or $25 at the door. The Fair is open Friday and Saturday, noon to 7 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.

Current Basalt officials say the town government has violated the Colorado Taxpayers’ Bill of Right by increasing the property tax mill levy over the prior years 10 times since the mid-2000s. Two former mayors contend the mill levy could be adjusted in any given year as long as it didn’t exceed the mill levy in 1994. It’s a $2 million question.
