Here is another column about May Madness, the annual benefit party for Aspen Education Foundation, which funds many special programs at the Aspen Public Schools. There are so many photos from that festive evening that I will do another column about it next week ” then on to Aspen’s summer activities.

“Eco-Beautiful” is the title of a new book by David (Dove) Shore with makeup artist Lina Hanson. It was published May 12 by Rodale Press, the leader in health books and publisher of Prevention Magazine. The book is available at Barnes and Noble and Borders or you can easily order it on Amazon. David, who did the photography for the book, has a business in Los Angeles called dove shore photography and his website is doveshore.com. David grew up in Aspen, the son of artist and real estate broker Jill Shore and the late solar expert Ron Shore. Jill says the book is very “green.” David is also having an exhibition of his photography opening this week in a Santa Monica gallery.

Elissa LeMieux Rodman of Snowmass Village, who will be a senior at Bowdoin College in Maine next fall, has been awarded a fellowship for research in coastal studies.

Undercurrent … With the wind and the rain, the streets and sidewalks of Aspen are scattered with pink and white blossoms from the crabapple trees.
