It was the 29th year for the Food & Wine Magazine Classic in Aspen and it was exciting to see the event sell out for the first time since the Great Recession began. Attendees happily ate and drank to their hearts’ content.Former Aspenite Cassandra Lohr is featured in the June-July 2011 issue of Colorado Expression magazine in the architecture and design section. The article and photos depict an 18-year old home near Boulder that Cassandra helped the owners redesign. Cassandra also has launched her own collection of one-of-a-kind handcrafted furniture, bedding and accessories, which she says was inspired by a large Aspen design project. Also featured in the same issue of the magazine is “The Farm on Stewart Mesa,” which was designed and is owned by Sandra Kirk, a six-year resident of Paonia, where the house is located. The house resembles an Australian ranch home with wraparound porches, but is very much a western homestead and is surrounded by gardens.Undercurrent … For the Food & Wine Magazine Classic in Aspen it seemed that flowers suddenly bloomed everywhere in town, and the real estate ads bloomed in the newspapers and magazines.
