Around Aspen: Black-Eyed Peas

Mary Eshbaugh Hayes
Aspen Times Weekly

One of the favorite parties of the year is the Black-Eyed Pea Party and luncheon that Marian Davis gives at her home (designed by Fritz Benedict) with the lovely garden room so welcoming on a snowy January first. This is a party where you see old friends and someone always finds a dime in their black-eyed peas … for good luck in the new year.

This year we were all saddened because Marian and chef Robert Suter both announced it was their last party.

Undercurrent … Now that I’m back from Hawaii … the winter seems half over!
