For the fourth year, National Jewish Hospital of Denver held its Bella Sera party honoring Aspenites. This year the honorees were Paula and Monty Loud and Louise and David Gitlitz.

Past honorees were Barbara and Aaron Fleck and Lita and Mort Heller in 2007, Alex Kaufman in 2008, and Madeleine and Karl Larson and Linda and David Stein in 2009. Michael Salem, president and CEO of National Jewish, said that National Jewish Health now has adult care clinics at Aspen Valley Hospital and pediatric clinics in Basalt and New Castle.

The Aspen Valley Land Trust will hold its 7th annual “Land Dance” on Sept. 11, starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Tybar Ranch in Carbondale. Providing the music for the dance will be Pastor Mustard and his new National Swing Band. Hosting the party will be Obermeyer Asset Management Co. and Seligman Family Foundation. Undercurrent … My backyard garden is growing great. The lettuce is luscious, of course, we have had several red tomatoes, the potato plants are blooming with purple flowers, the squash have giant yellow blossoms, the corn actually has tassels and ears of corn, and the peas are almost ready to eat.
