Around Aspen: Anderson Ranch

At the end of every August, the Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass holds a picnic and art auction and we get to see what local artists and students at the ranch have created. A lot of the pieces are sold and that makes the artists happy and the people who buy them happy. The whole day is happy with friends seeing friends, artists meeting other artists, a band playing and lots of good food.The December issue of Town & Country magazine includes a photo of part-time Aspenites Evelyn and Leonard Lauder attending the Opening Night Gala of the New York Philharmonic held at Lincoln Center, which featured a concert with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.The November-December issue of Mountain Living magazine features articles about renovations in Aspen … a condo near Little Nell and a house at the base of Smuggler Mountain. Then there is “The House of the Moment,” a new house in Aspen Valley Ranch. Undercurrent … So many people stop me and ask if Jim and I are moving. We are not. That “For Sale” sign is for the vacant lot next door to us on East Bleeker Street.
