One of the largest and most glamorous galas of the summer season was the 6th Annual artCRUSH put on by the Aspen Art Museum by the Roaring Fork River. Marilyn Minter was honored with the museum’s Aspen Award for Art. According to the award, “Her photorealistic paintings hone in on the moment where clarity becomes abstraction and beauty commingles with the grotesque.” All the beautiful people were at the gala, looking more beautiful than ever.

It’s the time of year for Aspenites to make their nominations for the 2011 Aspen Hall of Fame. Deadline is Wednesday, Sept. 15. A nominee must have had a significant and lasting impact on the Aspen/Snowmass communities economically, physically, spiritually or intellectually. For information call Tom Egan at 970-925-3721.

Undercurrent … After that short summer, I hear so many Aspenites grumbling, “I wish summer was as long as winter, and winter as long as summer.”
