Another wake-up call

Aspen Times writer

Dear Editor:This letter is just one of many wake-up calls for the citizens of Colorado concerning the U.S. Forest Service and many other state and federal agencies here in Colorado allowing EnCana Oil and Gas Inc. to drill for gas just about anywhere and any time in this state. So, apparently, EnCana must own the Colorado Oil and Gas Commission, the BLM, the Forest Service and whatever else stands in their way of destroying our beautiful wilderness areas to drill anywhere, unchecked by anyone in this state. There needs to be a checks-and-balances system in this state, as well as this nation. The citizens of this state and country no longer have control over their land or country in any way, shape or form, since George Bush has been president.Gale Norton should be fired from her job of secretary of the Interior after allowing her own state to be destroyed by EnCana and the other gas and oil corporations. Also, you do not see any Republican candidates for the upcoming election trying to protect the environment of their own state. It is now time for the citizens of Colorado to take matters into their own hands. See us at a major environmental meeting in Carbondale on Aug. 4 at 7 p.m. at Carbondale Town Hall.Randy FrickeColorado Citizens Energyand Environment Committee
