Annual pot celebrations draw thousands in Colorado
Aspen, CO Colorado
DENVER – The annual 4/20 marijuana celebrations drew thousands to Denver’s Civic Center Park and to the University of Colorado-Boulder campus.
Organizers had expected Wednesday’s event in Denver to be even bigger this year because it came on the eve of a major national pot conference in Denver.
CU official say about 10,000 people gathered in Boulder at the annual smoke-off and rally for legalizing marijuana. Thousands more converged on the downtown Denver park.
This year’s event in Denver comes the day before the annual convention of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, a prominent legalization group marking 40 years. This weekend’s conference is drawing most Denver mayoral candidates and Colorado’s Rep. Jared Polis, a Democrat who favors legalization.
