An ungracious exit

Tony, Tony, such baloney!

Instead of your ungracious exit remarks, it would have been well to hark back not to Richard Nixon’s departing words – “Never be petty; always remember others may hate you. Those who hate you don’t win unless you hate them. And then you destroy yourself.” – although they do seem to apply.

Rather recall the graceful concession speech of Al Gore, even though the election had been stolen from him, whereas you were soundly beaten. It could have been your finest moment.

You were correct in identifying losers as those who had backed you, among whom we find many in the real estate development and construction industry.

It seems to me your resounding loss might be attributed more to a general dissatisfaction with you and the goals of this group who poured money into your campaign than with the efforts of those you named in your remarks.
