An ode to the season |

An ode to the season

Dear Editor:

The Treasure of Christmas

What is the essence of Christmas?

Is it the presents, the tinsel, the toys,

The music, the lights

Or the laughter of happy girls and boys?

I think it’s our time to remember

The joys of Christmas past

When we were just little children

In a universe mysterious and vast.

Remember the call of your mother

To come see the Christmas tree.

The joy of sledding the snow covered hill

So happy, so wild, so free!

The bark and the wag of your own special pup

Cookies and chocolate in your favorite cup.

All of these memories and many more

Are the presents you have in your private store.

To treasure and love on those quiet days

When the past has gently slipped away!
