An informative presentation
Dear Editor:Thank you to Dr. Tomas Pevny and Dr. Thomas St. John of Orthopaedic Associates of Aspen and Glenwood Springs who volunteered their time on July 30 at Aspen Valley Hospital to provide our community with a comprehensive lecture on joint arthritis and joint replacement surgery. After providing information on arthritis, managing pain and the latest technological advances in hip and knee replacement, both physicians took individual questions from attendees seeking information not only as future joint replacement candidates, but also as concerned consumers.Dr. St. John is fellowship trained in joint replacement surgery and spine surgery. He trained at the prestigious Rothman Institute in Philadelphia, and joined our community in August 2001.Dr. Pevny joined our community in 1995. He is fellowship trained in sports medicine and was board certified since 1998. His special interests are in arthroscopic reconstructive surgery of the knee, trauma and total joint replacement.Living with arthritis can be extremely painful and total joint replacement is a daunting decision. Thank you to Dr. Tomas Pevny and Dr. Thomas St. John for helping our community make educated decisions and working to help our large population of high impact sports enthusiasts be life long participants!Laura PritchardDirector of Education,Aspen Foundation for Sports MedicineAspen
