An ‘essential happening’
November 25, 2009
The most exotic music festival in the world takes place on the edge of the Sahara Desert Jan. 7-9. The Festival in the Desert draws the likes of Tinariwen (who just the other day won the Uncut Music award), Habib Koite, Vieux Farka Toure, Amadou and Marian, Toumani Diabate, Salif Keita and many more great Malian and African bands.
To be a witness to this festival is to experience great music, new friends and feel like a citizen of the world. Anyone interested in going, please contact me. I will help you through the morass of airlines, visas, routings. I have brochures on the event, plus maps and knowledge of great side trips.
Robert Plant and Jimmy Buffet can’t be wrong; it is more than an event, it is an essential happening.
