An endorsement for Behrendt

Dear Editor:

I’m pleased that Michael Behrendt is running for Aspen City Council, and I wholeheartedly endorse him.

I’ve lived in Aspen full time for 38 years and was a store owner for 30 of those years. I have known Michael for decades. He previously served on Aspen City Council from 1973 to 1981 and has owned and operated the St. Moritz Lodge here for 40 years.

Because of Michael’s background and intelligence, I always consult him about community issues. He is thoughtful, he does his research, he devotes his time to this community, and he has a pragmatic approach to problems. Michael has the local business knowledge, government experience, historical perspective and intelligence to, once again, be a valuable addition to the council. I mention all this because while the amount of time lived in Aspen doesn’t guarantee the ability to choose wisely or govern, when combined with sound analytical skills, it can certainly be a factor in arriving at an informed voting decision.

Michael Behrendt will receive my vote for Aspen City Council on Election Day.
