Dear Editor:

I would like to offer the strong support from our organization and myself of the Helping From the Heart campaign. In the past, this fund has enabled many of our nonprofits, including Mountain Valley, to survive state and federal funding cuts and continue to work on behalf of our neighbors. The ongoing generosity of the citizens of Pitkin County exemplifies the sense of community that serves to make the Roaring Fork Valley such a very special place for all of us who live here.

Each year Mountain Valley serves more than 400 individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. The state of Colorado ranks 47th in funding for services for people with disabilities. Without the support of our local communities we would not be able meet the needs of many individuals who face significant challenges.

Remember to vote Tues, Nov. 7 – “yes” on Question 1A.

executive director,
