An awesome effort

Aspen Times writer

Dear Editor:I would like to thank the following people and bike shops for helping with Bill’s Bikes for Boys Ranch. On Aug. 1, a trailer-load of mountain bikes and road bikes were delivered to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch outside of Amarillo, Texas. I had read a short story about one of the house parents at Farley’s Boys Ranch who had built some biking trails on the ranch, but was then faced with the challenge of where to get mountain bikes for the kids. After collecting 17 donated bikes here in Aspen, we had a bike-tuning party to get all the bikes in great shape for delivery to the ranch. Helmets, water bottles and new parts were donated by local bike shops. Here is a list of great locals who donated bikes, parts, and mechanical skills to make this project, named after my late brother Bill Tweddle, happen:Brad Smith; Robbie Kurts; Johnny lvansco; Lance Larry; Scott Vold; Tim Mooney; Chris Casper; Bob Robinson; Sluggo; Riggs Klika; Arabella Beavers; Brent Waldron; Jace Michael; Niko Marquez; Gabe Eakins; Annie Bolenger; Dogger; Kevin Dunnett; Hein Brutsaert; Mary Lou Casper; James Anderton; Bubba at Ute City Cycles; Chris at The Hub; Joel and Morgan at Ajax Bike & Sport; Kurt at Bicycle Service Center. For future donations of good mountain bikes, please call Jason Beavers at 920-7903. Thanks to all the folks who helped make this worthwhile project a great success.Jason BeaversAspen
