An amazing trip

Dear Editor:

I just spent the most amazing week in New York City with Aspen High School IB Business and Management students and fellow sponsor Karen Zohar. Thanks to the generosity of Peter Van Domelen of Reese Henry Co., whose company provided the financial support for the trip, as well as Dick Butera, Michael Woodrow, Christy Pope and Martin Franklin, who enabled the connections for our onsite visits, and Hana Lewicke of Reese Henry who did the organizational heavy lifting, we were able to have unparalleled access to significant businesses during our study tour of business in NYC.

The six AHS business students who applied for (in a competitive process) and were accepted to participate in this extraordinary educational opportunity spent three hours with a managing director and his team at Goldman Sachs; three hours with executives of Jones Of New York Apparel Group; one hour with the GM of Plaza Athenee Hotel; two hours with a risk management executive recruiter from Risk Talent; two hours on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange, where the students were able to talk directly with the DMM of Jarden Inc.; time on the floor after the Knicks-Nuggets game with NBA all star David Lee; and two hours with AHS alums Brock Strausberger and Colter VanDomelen, who now work on Wall Street. The students were also able to tour the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the Finance Museum of America, the Empire State Building and a take in a Broadway play during our five-day visit. Thank you, Aspen, for one of the most outstanding study tour experiences ever.
