Alpine Bank warns of text and email scams targeting Coloradans

As Cyber-fraudsters target more Coloradans with fake text messages and emails to fool them into disclosing confidential bank account information or transferring money, Alpine Bank is advising customers to remain vigilant.

The bank said some fake messages appear to request confirmation of a fictitious transaction, and often result in the scammer calling the victim while impersonating an institution’s fraud center. Customers are then tricked into verifying their login name and password or urged to transfer money to a different account, according to a news release.

Alpine Bank said it will never ask customers for their password or other login information. Even if an unsolicited message indicates a sense of urgency, always contact your bank’s main number first and log into any accounts using the main bank website. Never click on links in messages.

Alpine Bank accounts are secure so long as customers do not share their login credentials or other access to their accounts, the bank stated.
