All nonprofits will want to read this

As the season of thanks and giving approaches, The Aspen Times has decided to lend a hand again to local nonprofits, which are struggling in a faltering economy.

Last year we asked all interested nonprofits to send us Christmas “wish lists” of needed items. The response was overwhelming, in terms of both requests from nonprofits and donations from people and businesses.

Several nonprofits have already contacted us this year, wondering if we plan to publish another wish list. The answer is yes. In fact, we intend to make it an annual feature.

This year, we’re asking all nonprofits to send us a list of three things they would love to see under the tree on Christmas Day. Items can range from boxes of pencils to computers, though inexpensive items tend to get the best response.

The deadline to submit wish lists is Friday, Dec. 12. We will publish a full listing in the Dec. 18 weekly and and the Dec. 19 daily edition, so respondents will have time to help before Christmas. Of course, nonprofits will gladly accept donations throughout the holiday season.

Please send wish lists to our office at 310 E. Main St. in Aspen, drop them by in person, or e-mail them to hagan@aspentimes.com. Thank you in advance for participating.
