All in good taste

Dear Editor:

Thanks to the Basalt Education Foundation and the Taste of Basalt, Christmas came early to Basalt Middle School this year. The generous support of the Basalt community for the Taste of Basalt fundraiser translated into some amazing grants that will benefit many areas of our students’ educational experience.

Academically, we are thrilled to be able to purchase a state-of-the-art set of graphing calculators, books and technology for our library, social studies books, new literacy materials to support new and higher standards, and leveled novels for the ELL program. For the active side of our students, our Outdoor Education program received generous grants, as did our wrestling and track programs. Finally, our students will receive an awesome boost on the artistic side with funds augmenting our art and dance programs.

Thank you to all who supported the Taste of Basalt this year. Please know that these funds will positively impact the 410 students who walk through our doors every morning. On behalf of the BMS staff, I’d like to express our gratitude to be able to work in such a supportive community.
