AHS juniors chosen as leaders

Aspen Times Staff Report

Four Aspen High School juniors have been selected to participate in The National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C.

Cody Wilkie attended the conference two weeks ago; Sara McFlynn attended the conference last week; and Amber Matthews and Mae Whitmer are leaving for the conference early this week.

The National Young Leaders Conference is a unique leadership development program for high school students who have demonstrated leadership potential and scholastic merit. The four AHS students are among 350 outstanding national scholars attending the conference from across the nation.

Highlights of the program include welcoming remarks from the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives and a panel discussion with prominent journalists at the National Press Club. Scholars will also visit foreign embassies and receive policy briefings from senior government officials.
