Against unbridled growth
Dear Editor:
Many of the owners and developers who want oversized, three-story buildings with penthouses they can rent for huge amounts of money are the same people who have lived here for many, many years and who were some of the original owners of Aspen’s downtown buildings. And they (many of them) are those who have already made fortunes on their investments.
They don’t appear to care whether the town’s original character will forever be changed as more “inappropriate” development is allowed. I know full well why I moved here in the ’60s, and it certainly wasn’t so I could live with the kind of development now being brought before you for approval. Whether you hear from residents or not, surely you know they feel as I do.
A huge majority of Aspen’s residents do not support big, new development anyplace in Aspen.
Thank you for your consideration.
