A&E Agenda: Uphill breakfast club, Aspen Gay Ski Week, and TopHouse
Friday Morning Uphill Breakfast Club returns to Buttermilk, running weekly from Jan. 10-April 4, 8:45 a.m.-10 a.m.
The Cliffhouse restaurant, located at the top of Buttermilk Mountain, will host a Friday Morning Uphill Breakfast Club in which uphill skiers will be able to enjoy breakfast in the restaurant after heading up the mountain.
Aspen Chamber Resort Association will be sponsoring the remaining breakfasts this season, so you can enjoy your French toast or fried rice for just $8 per person.
Cliffhouse breakfast will be available for purchase from 8:45 a.m.-10 a.m. with coffee, tea, and hot chocolate; an oatmeal and yogurt station featuring dry quick oats in a mason jar ready to be prepared; as well as a toppings bar filled with healthy add-ons. A hot breakfast will also be available with two menu options: a signature Cliffhouse breakfast fried rice with a farm egg or thick-cut French toast with crisp bacon. The Cliffhouse also offers options from the bar, including bloody marys and mimosas, along with other specialty drinks.
Please note that an uphill pass is required to uphill on Aspen Snowmass ski areas. Visit aspensnowmass.com/four-mountains/buttermilk/uphill-policy for more information about uphilling at Buttermilk.
48th Aspen Gay Ski Week, Sunday, Jan. 12 through Sunday, Jan. 19
Aspen Gay Ski Week (AGSW) is the oldest annual, week-long gay ski event in the nation. A model for other gay ski weeks, the event offers a unique experience in the scenic and historic mountain town of Aspen. AGSW visitors enjoy four mountains of varied skiing and snowboarding terrain, as well as cross-country skiing, snowshoe, and winter hiking trails in the Elk Mountains of Colorado.
AGSW is also the annual fundraising event for AspenOUT, a local nonprofit and 501(c)(3) organization focused on anti-bullying and tolerance. AspenOUT has been producing this event since 1996 for the purpose of funding local programs and supporting national organizations that fit its mission. Read more about AspenOUT below.
Cheyenne Jackson, Wednesday, Jan. 15, and Friday, Jan. 17, Hotel Jerome Ballroom
Theatre Aspen presents Cheyenne Jackson in concert for Aspen Gay Ski Week. After his acclaimed sold-out run at 54 Below last year, this Emmy and Grammy-nominated luminary brings his infectious charm and powerhouse vocals to Aspen with “Signs of Life,” a musical meditation on art, love, fatherhood, and the cosmic twists that have shaped his remarkable path. In “Signs of Life,” he invites audiences on a deeply personal and uproariously funny exploration of the universe’s subtle cues, from toe-tapping melodies to saucy showbiz anecdotes. Prepare for an unforgettable night filled with whimsy, laughter, and the sheer joy of a perfectly imperfect night of shared experience. Willy Beaman will musically direct.
Songs include works by Chappell Roan, Cole Porter, Lady Gaga, Jason Robert Brown, and Bernstein.
“AGSW is so very honored to partner with Theatre Aspen on this extraordinary performance with a personal favorite of mine (secret 30 Rock fanboy,) Cheyenne Jackson. We look forward to two nights of smiles and ‘Signs of Love’ at the Jerome, Aspen,” said Lukas Volk, executive program and marketing director.

TopHouse, Wednesday, Jan. 15, 7 p.m., Belly Up Aspen
“A lot of people ask us what genre we are. The truth is, we don’t know. Check out some of our music, and let us know what you think. In reality, if you want to get to know about TopHouse, y’all should shoot us a message and say hi, come to a show, or listen to some music! Why not all three?”
“Fast-paced, high-energy foot stompers. Ballads that’ll make you cry. It’s kind of like a rock band married old-fashioned bluegrass and had a baby. And named it TopHouse.”
AspenOUT and AGSW present Very Delta Live: With Mariam T and Friends, Thursday, Jan. 16, 9 p.m.
Be prepared for VERY DELTA LIVE to go off! Mariam T and special guests join us for a very late-night television format with performances, interviews, and surprises.
