Actress Hawn to receive award

Actress Goldie Hawn will be the recipient of the second annual Spirit of Freedom Award at a reception on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the St Regis hotel in Aspen.

Hawn is being honored for her commitment to Tibet and the plight of the Tibetan people. Socialite Ivana Trump and Dr. Gail Gross will present her with the Freedom Award. Dr. Gross was the last year’s Spirit of Freedom Award recipient.

The Tibet Fund is a nonprofit, nonpolitical organization dedicated to supporting and strengthening the Tibetan communities, both in Tibet and in exile. The fund was established in 1981 with the guidance of His Holiness, the Dalai Lama.

Over the past 18 years, the Tibet Fund has grown into the principal fund-raising organization for the Tibetan people. Richen Dharlo, president of the Tibet Fund, said about last year’s event in Aspen, “Our program assists with education, economy, and community development. Events like Spirit of Freedom Award give us a heightened awareness as well as much needed funding.”

During the cocktail reception, Christian Dior boutique will work the floor with the latest fashion collection, and an art exhibit, displaying the work of Peter Mailer-Yates will also make up some of the evening’s activities.

Spirit of Freedom Award II is produced and organized by TMG Productions and sponsored by Christian Dior, Vivid Collection, Dennis Basso, Dr. Randal Haworth, Bacardi, Luna Di Luna Winery, Aspen Magazine, Channels magazine, Bahia Gold Cigars, Sports Club/LA, and the St. Regis.

Tickets are $250 per person. For information or reservation call (970) 947-5152.
