Activity fair: Its gonna be big

Dear Editor:What do the communities of Aspen, Glenwood and Carbondale have that the midvalley does not have? If you answered a recreation center, you answered correctly. This Saturday, May 9, from 9 a.m. to noon, the Friends of Crown Mountain proposed Recreation Center & the Roaring Fork Family Resource Center are hosting a Free Outdoor & Indoor Summer Activity Fair at the Eagle County Building and Playing Fields in El Jebel across the highway from Wendys. All are invited to attend this free event so the dream of a midvalley recreation center can be built sometime in the near future with an overwhelmingly amount of public support. Free tennis lessons will be offered by USTAs Tennis Across America for juniors from 9-10 a.m. and adult lessons from 10 a.m. to noon. A bike rodeo from 9-11 a.m. for kids ages 5-9 will teach bike safety, conduct bike inspections & offer free helmets.Fire trucks will be on site to explore as well as the new BMX dirt track. Many sports teams will be playing also. Come check out existing summer programs and plan for the future midvalley recreation center which most probably will include an ice arena & swimming pools.
