ACRA marketing director leaves after eight months
Aspen Times Staff Writer
The Aspen Chamber Resort Association’s director of marketing has left the chamber after just eight months on the job.
Paul Rossi gave notice slightly more than a week ago. The marketing director position was a new one for the chamber, and Rossi would not disclose details about what led to his resignation.
“It was time for me to do other things,” he said. “Honestly, I think it was because of differences of opinion.”
The new position was developed last May as a way of implementing and executing the marketing plan under the chamber’s agreement with the city of Aspen. The job was meant to oversee all facets of the plan, including budgeting, tracking results and keeping up agency relationships.
ACRA President Hana Pevny said she would not speak about this “internal personnel matter.”
“I’ll just say that he is no longer at the chamber by mutual agreement,” Pevny said.
For now, Pevny said several different portions of the marketing plan are contracted out, such as public relations. The chamber also recently hired a director of sponsorship, for helping to fund special events.
The position will be evaluated and redefined in the coming weeks, Pevny said, and could be configured to work closely with a marketing director to be hired soon by the town of Snowmass Village as part of their $2.5 million annual marketing effort.
Ultimately, she said that position will “continue the collaborative efforts” that Rossi began.
“Paul did some really good things, and it was just time for both of us to move on by mutual agreement,” she said.
