Absorbed motorists a danger to cyclists

Dear Editor:

Today was only my second time on my bike in two years since my knee surgery and I almost got nailed twice on Durant.

To the guy in the gray Jeep talking on the phone, looking left while turning right from the left lane, no turn signal – I had to keep moving or you would have hit me since you did not even look to the right to see if anyone was even crossing the street.

To the woman in the older maroon Porsche Cayenne – you obviously saw me but left so little room you almost ran me into the back of a parked truck.

Bike riders need to follow rules of the road, but rules sometimes have to be broken to save your life. Not so for the people talking on the phone while driving, not indicating a turn, and not practicing safe driving.
