A world-class college fair
Enough superlatives hardly exist to describe the excellence of the Western Slope College Fair.
It never ceases to amaze just what this community can accomplish, not only for itself but also all its surrounding communities. The organizational brilliance of this event is nothing short of amazing. Aspen’s natural setting is but one of the draws.
It is first and foremost the people and their vision seven years ago that has resulted in what has to be the premier college event west of the Mississippi. The resolve for excellence exhibited by Kathy Klug, Kelly Doherty and their entire team is outstanding. The results speak for themselves – 220 colleges and universities visited our community and the numbers of college bound students who attend the fair grows every year.
The breadth of opportunities these colleges and universities offer our western slope children is second to none. The admissions and scholarships results achieved by Aspen High School are awesome. The many boys and girls from around the state is a testament to the generosity of those who supported the event with money and their service.
Every aspect of the weekend represents countless hours of not only creativity and organization, but also just plain hard work by many volunteers. There are too many people to even begin to mention, congratulate and thank individually, but we all share these sentiments.
To those of us who witnessed this effort up close, I have but one request: Kathy, is it all right to have our spouses back? (Until next year.)
Thank you, College Fair team!
