A wise choice

Dear Editor:Yes, Mike Kaplan has kept a low profile outside Aspen Skiing Co. (not a bad thing in a town like Aspen), but he has made meaningful contributions to our valley through his service on local nonprofit boards. Most recently Mike has served on the Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club and Aspen Country Day School boards, and I currently have the distinct pleasure of serving with him on the Aspen Community Foundation board. Mike joined our board in 2001 and until December chaired the Investment Committee. Actions speak for themselves and late last year he was elected board chairman. We are very lucky to have such a fine, thoughtful and energetic individual leading the [Aspen Valley] Community Foundation. The skiing company has made a wise “low key” choice.Larry MarxAspen
