A win-win for Basalt

Dear Editor:

Recently the Wyly Community Art Center was on Aspen Public Radio expressing their interest in applying for the Old Library Space in Basalt to be shared with the town. As a resident of Basalt, a strong supporter of the visual arts, a true believer in art education and someone who has benefited personally from a variety of Wyly offerings, I fully support this move.

The Wyly is a key piece of our community puzzle for many reasons. In particular, their long history of working with schools to provide supplemental art education, is more necessary than ever before, as school budgets continue to be cut.

To locate the Wyly Community Art Center in the Old Library Space will not only bring vitality to our town, but will allow them to operate with significantly less overhead, leaving more for their great program offerings.
