A vote for open space
We are writing concerning Eagle County Referendum 1H ? the open space tax referendum ? which is on the ballot next week.
As county residents may be aware, all three Eagle County Commissioners voted in favor of placing Referendum 1H on the ballot this fall in order to give our county the opportunity to have a dedicated fund for pursuing open space purchases and conservation.
The purpose of this letter is to insure county residents that if Referendum 1H passes, we, as continuing commissioners, will be working in cooperation with an open space advisory committee and groups and programs such as the Roaring Fork Conservancy, Aspen Valley Land Trust, Midvalley Trails Committee, Basalt River Stewardship Master Plan, and other open space experts to insure that a fair share of the funding is allocated to worthy land conservation projects on the Roaring Fork side of our county.

Aspen’s dirty downtown alleys are enough of a blight that the city government is taking the initiative to clean them up this week.
