A vote for Bruell
November 2, 2007
As a parent of elementary school age children in a RFSD school, I would like to urge voters to elect Debbie Bruell for the Carbondale seat on the Board of Education.
I have served with Debbie on the Crystal River Elementary School accountability committee for three years. Our school has been through a variety of challenging situations, including a large number of families leaving the school. Debbie has been through these challenges, deeply involved as a positive, creative problem-solver and a diplomat. She’s a clear thinker with broad educational experience and vision who seeks out the best information possible for innovative solutions, and then takes responsibility for implementing those solutions. We wouldn’t have the visiting authors program or the new dual language program at CRES without her.
As a parent of a kindergartner and a middle school student, Debbie is the only person running for a seat on the board who has young children in the RFSD school system. It is critical we have this perspective represented on the school board to successfully grapple with the challenges and opportunities our district faces today and over the next decade. She understands from firsthand experience how the RFSD board and schools can improve communication with parents and communities, increase teacher retention and inspire student achievement. Debbie’s educational vision, ability to turn ideas into actions, and communication and problem-solving skills are a perfect fit for the RFSD Board of Education. Please join me in voting for Debbie Bruell to create the best school system possible.
