A truly great season

Saturday at the semifinal 2A football game. It was heartwarming to see the people who came from all over the valley to cheer for the Roaring Fork Rams.

Thanks to Mark Gray and the CMS band, Joan Knab and the BMS band, and Chris Bank from the RFHS band for pulling together a large group of student musicians to create an energetic pep band. Those students, teachers and parents met early that morning to learn to play together, to feast on pizza and to add that extra element of excitement to the game.

Thanks to the many volunteers who put on the chili benefit to raise money for Mike Schilling’s medical expenses. Thanks, too, for the people who sold the raffle tickets to raise even more for this cause.

Thank you to the parents of Roaring Fork, who again manned the terrific Booster Club concession stand. Thanks to the football fathers for another breakfast for the team. And to the football mothers, thanks for the many Friday night dinners. To all of you, thanks for the noise, the cheers and the tears ” through every day of this season, your team always knew you were there.

Thanks to the staff of Roaring Fork, who were there again on Saturday supporting our students. Without the efforts of our Athletic Director Larry Williams and our custodians, and our maintenance crew, many details would not have been covered.

Thanks to the members of the student body who dressed in spirit, painted their faces and screamed their support. Thanks to the graduates who came again to the field to cheer on the team. Thanks to the Chain Gang and announcer Mike Fahrenkrug who have been there every moment of every game.

A special thank-you to the cheerleaders who have led our spirit efforts every week since the beginning of school. To Jessica, Ashley, Stacia and Patsy, good luck to you as you enter your competitive season.

Thank you to Coach Jensen. He has been the dreamer who has led the players and the many other coaches who worked with the Rams. Every day, every weekend and probably most of last summer has been devoted to this season. As the families of these men could tell us, they have been tireless in their devotion to the Rams football team of 2003.

And what a team it has been! We are so proud of these young men in terms of their effort and their achievement. They are fine students and excellent representatives of our school and valley. Thank you for the unforgettable season.

And finally, good luck to the Crusaders as they defeat Eaton in the final game this coming Saturday.
