A tremendous race

Dear Editor:

On Sept. 16, two races were run in Marble ” the Lead King Loop 25K trial run and the 12.5K quarry climb.

The Aspen Times article, several days after the race, printed some brief results of the longer race noting the women’s winner from Snowmass and the men’s second place finisher from Silt.

Nowhere was there any report of the results of the not-insignificant shorter quarry climb (7.75 miles), won handily by Aspen local Brian Johnson. It was a tremendous effort. Shame on you. The Post Independent had an excellent story on both races. Brian is a longtime member of the Highlands ski patrol and was voted most valuable last season. It really would be great to see some of our outstanding champs get the often overlooked recognition that they deserve in our local paper.
