A top-flight triathlon

Dear Editor:

Thank you, Aspen, for another spectacular event! Triathletes swam, bicycled and ran their way to prizes and personal bests during the annual Aspen Triathlon /Duathlon held on June 11.

We were extremely fortunate for all of the volunteers who helped keep the participants, safe, hydrated, pointed in the right direction, motivated, and timed.

A thank you goes out to Aspen Parks and Recreation staff, Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office, Aspen Police Department, and all whom helped make this such a smooth and unique event.

We appreciate all that you do before, during and after the big day!

Our success would not be possible if it weren’t for the tremendous teamwork of all volunteer staff of more than 50 people (all City of Aspen employees). All of these people share the same passion to deliver a great race for both athletes and spectators.

The Aspen Triathlon committee would like to thank our sponsors: Zoot, Hammer Nutrition, Rudy Project, and to those businesses who gave gift certificates or prizes for the raffle.

The triathlon is just another fantastic example of a town pulling together to showcase the best it has to offer. I have no doubt that year after year the triathlon will continue to bring participants and we look forward to seeing you all at next year’s event. Start training.
