A surprisingly quick commute

Dear Editor:I had an interesting commute on 82 last Friday. I was resigned to being late for my teaching job at Aspen Elementary Friday morning because of the snow. After dropping one child off at CRMS and the other at his bus stop, I headed upvalley for the dreaded drive.Much to my surprise, it was one of the quickest commutes I had in recent memory. No backup at Buttermilk! Totally perplexed, I pondered this odd situation. Suddenly I realized there were no pickups or dump trucks on the drive up. Outdoor construction work must have been canceled due to snow. Now, here’s my point: If the construction industry has such a profound effect on our commuting traffic, then solving our traffic problems should emphasize a focus on how to reduce their impact on Highway 82.Bruce GabowBasalt
