A stunning statement

Dear Editor:

Heidi Zuckerman in an interview with the Aspen Daily News stated that she still wants to put the art museum on the old youth center site. To quote her: “…they would be interested in a long-term lease if council determined that was in the best interest of the citizens of Aspen.”

The arrogance of this statement is stunning. Sixty-two percent of Aspen citizens voted against building the museum on this site. Leasing as opposed to selling is pretty much semantics as the museum would still be built on a site that the majority of Aspen has voted against. This Big Brother knows best mentality contained in her statement is beyond insulting to the intelligence and thoughtfullness of Aspen voters who seriously consider ballot issues before casting their votes.
