A story in Wednesday’s paper about a fiscal analysis of the proposed Base Village project incorrectly stated that the firm that did the analysis, Economic & Planning Systems, was hired by the project’s proponents – Intrawest and the Aspen Skiing Co. Instead, under an agreement worked out between Intrawest, the Skico and the town of Snowmass Village, it was agreed that the town would hire EPS to complete the fiscal analysis, since EPS had just recently completed an economic modeling program for the town.Usually, a project proponent does a fiscal analysis and the town then pays a consultant, such as EPS, to review and critique. But given that EPS had just completed an economic model for the community, town staff and the applicants agreed it would be more efficient to have them prepare the fiscal analysis.Intrawest and the Skico were then given the opportunity to review the analysis, which they have done. The analysis is now part of their application to the town.
