A Spellbinding idea

Dear Editor:

Thriving quietly in our valley is a nonprofit that mutually enriches both the younger generation and the older … did you know? It is Spellbinders, committed to connecting caring adults to delightful children, and the reverse.

How? Through the art of storytelling in our schools and beyond.

The benefits? Growing imagination and creativity, giving challenge and hope through story, building vocabulary and writing structure, nourishing both listener and teller and keeping alive tales, legends, true stories and more.

I know this because I have been a Spellbinder for four years now and plan to be for several more. The other tellers, men and women, are equally enthusiastic.

The children and their response? Pure pleasure.

The group of trained Spellbinders? Pictures of participation and inspiration.

As Einstein put it: “If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more.”

Perhaps someone reading this would like to become a Spellbinder? There is a three-morning training session coming up in El Jebel at the Eagle County Building from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on April 24, 26 and 30.
