A solution is in the works

Dear Editor:Jeffrey Evans, in his letter to the editor of June 27, gives a nice history lesson on the Entrance to Aspen. History is nice and I like history, but solutions are better. The solution that he and his group are offering in their petition is to choose between four lanes into Aspen and four lanes into Aspen. There are too many good things coming together for the voters of Aspen to sign away their rights to an elegant solution to the problem. First RFTA is presenting a plan for Bus Rapid Transit. BRT is becoming the mass transit of choice for many cities wishing to avoid the cost of rail beds for rail transit and can work equally as well. We have new leadership in the mayor’s office. We have new leadership at the Aspen Skiing Co. The city, the county and the Skico need to get together and review the current preferred alternative and move it forward, or outline to the voters of Aspen contrasting alternatives.I encourage Aspenites to give their new leadership a chance and do not sign the petitions.Robert PewWoody Creek
