A smash hit

Dear Editor:

On behalf of Aspen Film and our Reel People membership, I want to express our sincere appreciation to the citizens of Aspen and Snowmass who supported our Oscar party. The event was sold out days in advance, and we couldn’t have been more pleased.

I want to especially thank the Viceroy Snowmass for the fabulous venue, large screen TVs and sumptuous food buffets. The Viceroy did a magnificent job of converting their Eight K restaurant, complete with red carpet, so that we could enjoy the Oscars. Catherine Store provided an endless supply of champagne and wine for our guests, while Aspen Magazine and Trumer Pils provided the beer, which was wonderful.

And to add spice to the whole evening, we were graced by the presence of Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden, and her husband Thaddeus, who spent the evening talking with guests and telling stories of her own big Oscar night. It was a magical evening and we look forward to repeating this event again next year.

Next up for Aspen Film is our world renowned Shortsfest on April 6-11 at the Wheeler Opera House. We’re an Oscar qualifying shorts competition and will be featuring 84 short films from 30 different countries, selected from over 2,500 world-wide entries. The competition includes comedy, drama, animation and documentary shorts. Tickets go on sale March 22. Hope to see you there!!
