A small price to pay

Dear Editor:

As members of the Aspen Valley Hospital board of directors, we are asking you to take just a few minutes to return the hospital district ballot that was mailed to you earlier this month. Ballot issue A asks you to reauthorize the hospital’s tax levy that has been in place for the last 15 years. The ballot must be received by the election official by 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4.

This mill levy helps Aspen Valley Hospital to provide state-of-the-art medical equipment, a highly qualified staff, and a personalized level of care that is unsurpassed by hospitals throughout the country. The benefits are extensive, but the price you pay is small – just 3.2 percent of your total property taxes. For perspective, if you own a $500,000 home, that’s just $3.25 per month. If you own a $3 million home, it’s about $19.50 per month.

There is nothing more important to a community than quality medical care, and we are lucky to have a hospital that is strong, focused, and totally dedicated to providing the health care services this community expects and deserves. Please vote yes for a continuation of the hospital mill levy. Thank you.
