A show for the ages

Dear Editor:

Great shows happen so seldom, and over the years I have seen a few. Miles Davis at the Village Vanguard or Thelonious Monk and John Coltrane at the Five Spot Cafe or Duke Ellington at Newport. Thursday night the sun came out again, Jamie Cullum put on a show for the ages. He is such an incredible example of jazz at its finest. And seeing him in the Benedict Music Tent, compliments of the Music Associates and Jazz Aspen Snowmass, just made me think maybe Jamie brought summer into full bloom. He brought out the sun in the tent, maybe it will stay out. If you are brought down by this weather, then go buy some Jamie Cullum – the sun will be out.
