A selfless man, a family man

Dear Editor:

I am writing to express great sadness at the passing of an amazing man. My uncle, Charles Wyly, passed away Sunday morning here in Aspen. He loved this town, hiking, skiing, all that living in this great place has to offer.

He was an extraordinary person, and I am honored to have known him and had the privilege of calling him “Uncle.” A soft-spoken leader in our family. A man with the gentlest of spirits. He was incredibly generous – to his family, his friends and his community. His gifts to the community here in the Roaring Fork Valley as well as his home in Dallas are too numerous to list.

He was gracious and kind, loving, intelligent and a joy to know. My father has lost his brother and best friend. My aunt has lost an outstanding and loyal husband. My cousins have lost an adoring father/grandfather/great-grandfather. He expressed his gratitude on a daily basis for the blessings in his life.

Keep his spirit alive and do the same today.

Kelly Wyly O’Donovan
