Dear Editor:As a frequent driver on Highway 82, and as a parent of teenage drivers, I can well appreciate the hazards and resulting mishaps. A few years ago, I was in need of body work on my vehicle, coinciding with my oldest child’s learner’s permit. I got an estimate from The Finishing Touch in Basalt. A friend suggested that I might get a better price in Glenwood, or even in Grand Junction. I got an estimate in Glenwood and decided to go with it because it was cheaper than The Finishing Touch. What a mistake that was! They lured me in with a lower estimate, put my car in and “upon further inspection” found that there was more work (money) involved. The final repair was what The Finishing Touch had thoroughly evaluated the first estimate, but cost me a little more!In January, my now-18-year-old daughter and I had a grueling drive home from Denver in a snowstorm with her new 2001 Jetta. We arrived home safely, only to have my husband back into her car the next morning! We went straight to The Finishing Touch with complete faith in the integrity and thoroughness of our new friend, John Schoeller. Not only did he get her car in and out very quickly, he also helped her obtain good snow tires!It is so refreshing to work with a local small business whose high standards I’ve come to expect and trust.Marti BarbourBasalt
