Dear Editor:Last week, President Bush described Iraq in fairly glowing terms, both in the Rose Garden with Prime Minister Allawi and during the first presidential debate with Sen. Kerry.He will be highly gratified to learn how ordinary Iraqis share his unshakeable belief in the extraordinary progress being made there under his watch.After witnessing 18 months of the U.S. reconstruction effort as well as what happened at Abu Ghraib, one Iraqi translator put it this way: “I always knew the Americans would bring electricity back to Baghdad.
