A proven track record

Dear Editor:Tim Semrau has served on the Aspen City Council in years past, and has proven leadership skills in employee housing and active problem solving. Tim has the experience and background that can help Aspen address the important issues of today. He knows what is involved in managing the development and building going on in Aspen. He can control growth, while allowing necessary renovation and improved construction management. We have just had an example of over-regulation by the City Council as we watch unfortunate changes at the Jerome Hotel, which will probably end its exclusive use as a hotel in the near future. Do we want more of this? I don’t think so.Which mayoral candidate better understands the complexities of enhancing Aspen’s lodging base: a career politician or someone who has both city council experience and development knowledge? The answer is clear. This is a critical time for Aspen, and we need leadership with the range of skills Tim Semrau has: proven government service, proven retail business success, proven ability to actually make affordable housing a reality instead of just talking about it. We need the creative ideas and positive direction that Tim Semrau will bring to the office of mayor. Experience counts!Warren KlugAspen
