A phenomenal show for Africa

Dear Editor:

On behalf of Action in Africa, we want to send our thanks and congratulations to several people who helped put on our incredibly successful benefit concert at the Wheeler last Friday night.

If you missed it, the show was phenomenal! The Bolsheviks impressed everyone. Martin Sexton made an unforgettable guest appearance. As usual, David Ssejinja captivated the audience. Gracie Nichols and Meg Lansburg shared an inspirational video. Several members of the AHS Dance team performed an African tribute dance and lastly Ishmael Beah introduced the hip-hop legend himself ” DMC.

T-R-I-C-K-Y ” what a show!! To see DMC and Ishmael Beah together was truly magical. Special thanks to our host and hostess Tucker Eason and Gina Nuzzo, AIA benefit concert committee, Zibby Schwartz, the Wheeler Opera House, Silvertree Hotel, Smiddy Limo, Il Poggio, Mezzaluna, Montagna, Hotel Jerome, Robert Adair Langley Real Estate, Nuages and several local families who contributed generously to our fundraiser. We also would like to thank the Aspen Writers’ Foundation, with whom we teamed up to bring the Aspen community this unique and unforgettable event. All proceeds from the concert will benefit the Ssejinja Children’s Foundation in Kampala, Uganda.
